This necklace was created for the Etsy Beadweavers Team September 2012 challenge on the theme "A Lunar Obsession." This art cabochon reminds me of a woman's connection to the moon. (I've never bought the idea of a "man on the moon.") The moon cycles like a woman, waning and waxing thirteen times throughout the year. The moon is also mysterious but powerful. Tides react to her will, after all. Just like a strong woman can redirect her life, or her family's, or even the world. I imagine that the women in the cabochon is contemplating the moon above, celebrating its brilliance and recognizing her own
I have a fondness (okay, an obsession) with smoky quartz, so it was a pleasure to feature some with this necklace. Starting with subtle browns surrounding the art cabochon, and accented with copper czech druks, the necklace has a lacy effect. Smoky quartz drops dangle from the bottom of the 3" focal, as well as gracing the 18" neckpiece of 8mm and 14mm faceted smoky quartz rounds. The mystical meaning of smoky quartz says that it is a stone of perception and learning, useful in business, and capable of grounding one's joy in life.
Quiet, peaceful, stunning. Just like the moon.
All necklaces are backed with color coordinated ultra suede, for durability, comfort and light weight.
