These fabulous beads are made in Africa from Vulcanite, a material that was used to make vinyl records. They are known as Vinyl Record Beads, since they are made from the same material. Natively, they are called "jigida beads," which is a really fun name to say!

They are vintage, and hail from Mali. Women wear them around their waist, to help them hold their shape. Beads are 12x.5mm thick. This is a great strand of bright green with large sections of red, and even a few slices of pink. The way the colors are blocked makes them really pop! There are HUNDREDS of beads on this 30"+/- strand.

So perfect with the current TRIBAL and NEON fashion trends.
Temporarily strung on thread, you could wear these beads as-is. Or why not cut them apart and make some recycled vinyl magic of your own?
