Rice Straw Art
(An Ancient & Endangered art)
Rice straw art is an ancient art form which developed before our existing knowledge of color application became known. This leaf art consists of using the natural colors of leaves of the rice plant to create leaf art of unsurpassed beauty. No color, paint or dye is added to the natural color of the rice straw (dried leaves of the rice plant). This unique art is on the list of endangered art and only very few artists around the world practice this unique, ancient leaf art. Ray Koshy of Galveston, Texas is the only one in USA. Contact Ray at 409-762-5621
MADE IN AMERICA with dried leaves of rice plant, leaves of cottonwood tree, natural sap from a tree called gum Arabic as glue.
Hundreds of tiny pieces of dried leaves of rice plant are used in the creation of this unique piece of art. Sample rice straw (Dried leaves of rice plant) enclosed. The process of making a leaf art: The leaf is opened up, flattened by a primitive tool (Arrowhead shaped), apply glue on one side (Gum Arabic as glue, which is sap from a tree, everything used in this art is natural, eco friendly art) applied in place and cut with a double edged razor blade.
Please Frame it &it will last a lifetime
