Designed by the great Eva Zeisel for Red Wing in the 1940's, this piece is absolutely amazing. Originally part of her Red Wing Town and Country line, which has become a design icon, this piece highlights the forward-facing eye of an incredibly prolific and distinguished artist. In a supple gun metal black, this piece (the largest casserole of the Town and Country line) is composed of incredibly fine porcelain, and demonstrates the wonderful sense of line Zeisel has become known for. In great condition, there is a glaze rub under the lids handle (image 5), some light discoloration on the bottom of the piece, and a small, nearly unnoticeable hairline (image 4). Regardless of these minute blemishes, this piece looks absolutely stunning. Perfect for display, this piece is iconic for a reason: it flawlessly showcase the craftsmanship and style Eva Zeisel is adored for. Sure to become a centerpiece in your collection, this casserole looks as great as it did in the mid 40's, and is sure to look fantastic for many more years to come.
