Chrysoprase is a highly sought after gemstone, known for its vivid and beautiful apple green color, which often causes people to confuse it with jade. It belongs to the Quartz family of gemstones, but is one of its rare varieties. The bright green color of the stone endears it to gem lovers and jewelers alike. Because of its hardness (7 on the Mohs scale) it is also used in creating sculptures. The stone gets its name from a combination of two Greek words, chyros meaning gold and prase meaning leek. It is also known as the Australian jade. This pair of cabochons are a vivid and beautiful opaque green. They will feature nicely in a pair of designer earrings, or can be split and used in separate jewelry creations. (great size for a ring!!)
The stones measure: 10.9 mm wide x 23.36 mm long x 2.5 mm thick.
As with all of our cabochons, the reverse side has a matte finish, and it has a beveled girdle and low dome for easy bezeling.
