Today I have for you the next in my line of one of a kind fairy skirts. I call it "Floating on the Winds of Love" . Sure to be your new favorite fun accessory ! These skirts look great over leggings, yoga pants, or other skirts. They really shine as a unique bathing suit cover up or yoga movement skirt, The possibilities are endless. I make these skirt from odds and ends and left overs from other projects, so these skirts are not only wearable works of art, they are also the most unique way to recycle you will ever be proud to wear out in public.
For today's skirt I wanted to make a skirt featuring this beautiful hand dyed fabric I made. This fabric is made from t-shirts that have holes or tears in them, so would normally be thrown away. We are giving this fabric new life as something unique and beautiful.. I started by crocheting the waist band from a super soft sky blue acrylic yarn. To the waist I have attached strips of several beautiful hand dyed fabrics I made mostly in shades of blue and green with splashes of purples and oranges as well. The result is this amazing one of a kind piece. Sure to be a show stopper at your next event, be it a pool party, a festival, the beach or a picnic. This is a wrap style skirt that closes by way of two vintage pink plastic buttons that slip through the stitches of the crochet waistband, making for a perfect fit every time.
The crochet waist band is 2 1/2 inches high. The waist measures 34 inches when lying flat un-stretched, but will stretch to fit a few more inches. This skirt would best fit someone with less than a 35 inch waist/hip measurement. The length of the fabric strips vary but the length from the top of the waist band to the bottom of the longest strip is 15 inches.
These skirts are made from 100 % washable materials. However I would recommend, for the life of your purchase, that you hand wash and hang to dry. Please convo me if you have any questions or if you would like to discuss me making a skirt just for you.
