Found at a church fair in Down East Maine. Here is a hand carved and hand painted image of an owl with very cat like features on a branch surrounded by flowers at the rim. The round plaque is 12.5 inches in diameter and weighs about 2 pounds. It appears to have been made from a single piece of wood. The creator of this unique piece of Maine folk art carved his/her name on the back. The background is stained a dark brown and the relief carving is painted in white, yellow and blue. There is a piece of string attached to a small nail on the back for hanging the owl plaque on the wall.
