A New Look cashmere hat, with chic sophistication was de riguer in 1950, when Christian Dior introduced the nipped waist, full skirt, and the dish hat . Coining it, the New Look, women worldwide just had to have it!! It was new, modern, and so very elegant! In this homage to the New Look, I have experimented with hand blocking a beautiful piece of terra cotta, Italian cashmere coating, by Carolina Herrera. A subtle allure is achieved by finishing the brim with vintage, authentic 50's crinoline, in a beautiful scalloped pattern. Three tassels of velveteen emerge from the hatband, with Japanese soutache ball buttons dangling at the ends. The focal point is also a vintage 50's pom-pom of trimmed ostrich feathers. Authentic in every way. The perfect day to dinner hat! You'll feel like a million--before taxes of course!!
This hat is unsized, as one size fits all. This design is meant to be worn tipped a bit forward, and is held on by a discreet millinery elastic, worn under the hair at the nape.
