I made this wild piece by covering a styrofoam skull with naturally dropped macaw feathers, and peacock feathers that I curled by hand. I added a few friends (a toy mouse and beetle,) and painted a couple of the teeth with gold acrylic paint and embedding them with "diamond" rhinestones. The base is made from clean and sturdy recycled cardboard, covered in sheer black fabric and multicolor beaded fringe to form the skull's cape, which is also a versatile wig. Wear the wig down over your hair, cut it to match the length, wear the strands down while your natural hair is up, or sweep the strands into your updo. Attaches with two metal alligator clips. This headpiece is dark and fun, and can be worn as part of a Halloween costume, alone as a costume in itself, and is sturdy and lightweight enough to be worn as a performance piece on stage.
Did you know: trepanation is an ancient technique used to treat brain disorders (which were often believe to be caused by evil spirits,) by removing piece of the skull?
