This rare handmade rollerball pen is made of alumilite resin . I used only the best of everything available to create a pen masterpiece. If you prefer this pen in a fountain pen instead of rollerball, I can easily change out the front end to accommodate you.
THE MAKING OF THE PEN
I (Mike Trobee) shaped the blank with specialized tools. The result was an almost complete pen body. I then sanded the blank to match exact specifications for extremely superior rollerball pen parts. I then wet polished the resin in a multi step process by hand. Next, liquid polish was applied by hand to get a glass like surface. Finally Iused diamond powder polish to achieve a polish that you don't see on other pens.
The pen for sale in the pictures is a top notch, high end ceramic tipped rollerball pen. This is a special pen. The outer pen parts are rhodium. Rhodium has wear ratings far better than virtually any other metals. This means that the metal on the pen you buy today, with normal use should be in great condition 100's of years from now. Cheaper pens might be ok for weeks/months.
Most better pens in the world aren't wooden pens, they are resin pens. The resin I selected to use on this top of the line rollerball pen is Alumilite. Alumille costs about twice as much as regular pen resin. It is a high caliber pen resin! I have included how a rough resin "pen blank" looks in one of the photos of this pen. I sculpted the pen blank on my lathe with great attention to detail. Using calipers to ensure the parts not only fit, but they fit exactly. I could write two long paragraphs on how the blanks were sanded and polished with diamond powder....but I'll spare you. Long story short...I spent time doing 100's of meticulous steps to achieve a finished pen of distinction. The surface is polished to a glass like finish.
The rollerball I used is German made and ceramic tipped for the best writing experience you can get!
This pen is rare and extremely high quality. It is for someone extremely special or for a luxury pen collector.
