Wood probably Beech
Owner’s name on side G.C. Undy and more marks on the bottom edge but difficult to read.
Age probably late 1800s to 1920s.
Quartz clock movement – Battery and guarantee included.
A piece of useful assemblage art!
Please note that this plane has a metal blade and the the end of the blade protrudes from the side very slightly. The blade is firmly in place – I can’t move it! But this is not a toy for small fingers to handle. (See 2nd photo showing edge)
It is such a shame to see these old antique tools heaped in a box dirty, unloved. They have been superceded by power tools and discarded but give them a clean and polish and they are very attractive items. This one now has another purpose, a new life as a wall clock. A previous owner was Mr G. C. Undy. I would love to know who he was and what he made with this plane.
