1950's 72 drawer oak card catalogue with unique brass hardware. The face of the catalogue drawers are made from oak each piece is beautiful. The grain of the wood seems to be highlighted most on the drawers. The drawers themselves are a black plastic ( not uncommon) for mid century card catalogues. The entire exterior of the catalogue is made from oak but the interior in between the drawers is a cheaper wood. You cannot see the cheaper wood if the drawers are closed.
There is some distress on top nothing unexpected. This piece just needs a little oil to nurse some of the dryer spots of wood. There are three oak boards in the middle of the cabinet that pull out. It is where you would write down the reference numbers for the books that you are looking for in the library. They are a bit stuck. All have worked in the past. None are distressed. However, these have been our garage for the summer due to home renovations so the humidity has made the wood a bit swollen.
