Mr. Randall McTeague hid his love letters to Miss Merilee in the dark recesses of his wardrobe....

Perfect for a gentleman's....or ladies room, this beautiful 1880's Victorian Eastlake style, rich, dark, solid walnut ( or possibly mahogany due to slightly reddish cast) armoire/wardrobe has a single door with a beveled mirror original to the piece.

On the front sides is a barley twist detail and the bottom drawer has some Eastlake style carving.

Inside is great storage having five dovetailed drawers (14" wide by 7" tall) along the left side - great for lots of men's shirts or ladies sweaters! - and a hanging space to the right with 4 coat hooks on "ceiling" of the space. A rod may be installed if desired or tension rod used. (picture 4 bottom right shows with a tension rod inside) There is also a full-width tray draw with a great cut-out detail on sides that is above the inside drawers which gives additional storage space. The full width bottom drawer is dovetailed and has a keyhole for a working key (not available).

The decorative hardware on all drawers, hinges and locks appear to be solid brass.

Partial original label on back which reads Cobb Buz_ _ Fine Furnitu_ _91 Washington St....B _ __No_ _

Since the original key is long gone the lock on the door/bottom drawer does not function with the key supplied, as it merely serves as a handle to open the door.

Size:
37" wide at widest point at top with crown molding and 33 1/2" without
23" deep with crown molding, 21" without
73" tall

Condition:
Very good, sturdy and strong.
There is some rubbing of door at bottom left side (picture 5) causing a little loss of finish. In picture 2 it shows less and looks good after slight polishing I did. Levelling position on floor often causes doors to shift slightly and rub; minimal scratching on interior commensurate with age, no noticeable scratches, gouges on exterior; left side of tray drawer on side bottom is missing small sliver of wood and is not visable with drawer closed nor does it affect closure. It is easy to replace or may be left as is; inside of front door has some faint finish issues that would probably be coverable with good polish; "floor" inside on right side has some nicks; lock to door and outside drawer intact but lack key to function; lock plate on door slightly loose and can be tightened.

I have done my best to accurately describe any issues or faults on this piece and want to convey that it is very usable for many years to come.

I can take additional photos if necessary but the piece is in a small room with minimal space for repositioning. Also due to its dark color, photos have been and need to be lightened to show detail.
