Sorry, this item sold. You may also like:
The largest is marked “Flour” and 5.5” square and 6.75” tall. The “Sugar” canister is 4.75” square and nearly 5.75” tall. The smallest “Coffee” canister is 4.25” square and 5” tall. The shakers measure 1.75” square and 4” tall. The tops unscrew in order to fill them. The entire set nests together neatly.
Each piece is stamped “Japan” on its bottom. The canisters are finger-jointed on the corners.
Overall, they’re in nice shape for their age, but there are a few issues to point out: The bottoms of the canisters are made from a single piece of wood, which, due to time and changes in humidity, have cracked. Also, the lids do not seem to fit perfectly. They’re undoubtedly original, but they seem to have shrunk slightly over the years. There is also some wear in the finish on the lid of the largest canister. I had to look closely, but did notice a few teeny-tiny chips in the paint – mainly on the flour canister.
Obviously, they’re not very practical for actual food storage as they're not air-tight. They do make a nice display, though. My husband brought them home for me, but I’m trying not to overcrowd my limited counter space. :)
Perhaps you have the perfect spot to show them off!
