This is a wood-fired vase. It was on its side in the throat arch of our train-style wood kiln to about 2400 degrees F. Being in the throat arch produces heavy ash deposits (ash slag) on the exposed side, and really nice, gooey ash drips and flashing on the other. There are some scars from the wadding, as you can see, but that is just part of the process.
The inside is glazed with a temoku (iron rich) glaze, so it will hold water.
It is 10" tall and 8" in diameter.
