Another incredible and beautiful old Art Deco French wedding garland hair wreath from the 1920s. And again just how beautiful is this piece?
This antique French Bridal garland is simply wonderful and quite rare and collectible. It is from Paris and would have been worn by a Flapper bride in its day. It is made up of tiny fabric flowers and larger wax buds and fabric leaves which are woven around a band. The colours in this headpiece are really gorgeous; soft beige and earth tones. It may have been more cream coloured once but with age has darkened. I think this really adds to its appeal however. This piece has a real woodland pagan feel to it.
The tiara sits comfortably around the head as in the model shot. It has little loops at the ends so a piece of velvet ribbon or elastic could be added to keep it in place. Garlands such as this have been worn traditionally for weddings since ancient Roman times.
This lovely piece would be perfect for a romantic, woodland, vintage style bride to be.
Bought in Paris last year from a small flea market.
Lovely and quite sturdy for its age, it is delicate but very wearable.
48cm or 17 1/2 inches around the band
