A wonderful antique and rare french medallion of St Joan of Arc !
This wall hanging plaque, made of a white and pale blue biscuit of porcelain, features Sainte Jeanne d'Arc (Joan of Arc) praying at the Stake - by Maxime REAL DEL SARTE ((1888-1954), french sculptor, WW1 mutilated soldier).
It is signed "Real del Sarte 1931"
On the reverse, a French text was hand written "Executé à Oissel par la CTCF, etc... " dated 1933
It is inspired by the statue of Jeanne d'Arc carved by the same Real del Sarte, and which dates from 1926 (located in a niche of the Saint Joan of Arc Church situated in the Old Market Square in Rouen).
A rare a beautiful piece...
Approx 25.5 cm tall / 1 cm thick = 10 inches tall / 0.4 inch thick
