This classic oversized vintage Yves Saint Laurent shawl scarf was made from blending the softest wool and silk yarns together. It features a thin border of solid burgundy with an expansive paisley pattern that brings the colors of purple, blue, green, red, orange and tan to the design giving it a Turkish flourish. It sports an unfinished fringe edging on four sides. A lavish and luxurious shawl this is a truly stunning accent for suits or winter coats.

It measures: 69” x 70”

The YSL Logo is incorporated into the fabric design and the original labels are attached: Yves Saint Laurent, Foulards, Made in Italy – 65% Wool 35% Silk, dry clean only, Made in Italy. Mint vintage condition.

YSL Quote: “The accessory is the part, to my mind, that pulls the whole look together and gives it a unique quality.” Yves Saint Laurent, 1982

During the 1960s and 1970s, the firm popularized fashion trends such as the beatnik look, safari jackets for men and women, tight pants and thigh-high boots, including the creation of arguably the most famous classic tuxedo suit for women in 1966, Le Smoking suit. He was the first, in 1966, to popularize ready-to-wear in an attempt to democratize fashion, with Rive Gauche and the boutique of the same name. Some of his most memorable collections include the Pop Art, Ballet Russes, Picasso and Chinese, and African influences.

In 1976, Saint Laurent was achieving fresh successes, including his triumphant Opera-Ballet Russes collection and a series of tributes, from 1977 to 1981, to Vélasquez, Delacroix, Picasso, Aragon, Apollinaire, Cocteau, and Shakespeare. His accessories reflected these tributes.
