Last summer I made these three new leafages using seeds that had dropped from the maple trees in my backyard (in Mattituck on the North Fork of Long Island).

You may remember these seeds as “helicopters” from your childhood. I see them as wings that have blossomed into new botanical creatures living in a very special terrain of their own.

In the originals, I used the actual wings themselves, of course, and then embellished them with inks using a pen and nib or a very fine brush. I used Sakura .005 pens for the calligraphy.

The Winged Leafages are a series of three prints, each printed on 8.5" X11" 110 lb Strathmore ultimate white cover stock using 4-color process. I have left enough white space around the image for a 1" mat border on all sides or you can cut it down if you want to mount it rather than mat it. The print is protected for shipping with a cellophane envelope and backing board.
