The book is meticulously constructed using the ancient Ethiopian style, linked stitch binding and Coptic end bands. Hours were devoted to preparing the covers: sawing, planing, shaping, sanding, and finishing with a hand-rubbed oil and urethane top coat. This book is delightful to touch and hold.
There are 192 blank pages (front and back) of hand-torn, acid-free, archival Mohawk Superfine, a smooth paper ideal for all print and text uses. Handmade paper wraps protect each of the 12 sections and add interest to the exposed spine
Add your own thoughts, drawings, or photos, or simply display the book as an intriguing piece of wood and paper sculpture.
Dimensions: 4" x 5" x 1⅞"
This book is one of a kind. I will never make another exactly like it.
It comes with a pamphlet containing a more complete description of the materials and history of the binding. The pamphlet is covered with handmade desert creosote paper. Moisten the cover and learn what desert dwellers mean when they say, "The desert smells like rain."
