This vintage Japanese tea set includes one "yokode kyūsu (横手急須)" side-handled teapot, one water bowl, and five cups, along with the original box. It's a gorgeous set of creamy caramel and white swirling colors, sure to fit well in any collection!
Small in stature, this traditional earthenware teapot style is ideal (and most commonly used) for brewing green tea.
In excellent unused vintage condition. At first glance, you might think this set is brand new. The only sign of having some serious age to it is the heavy crazing adorning every piece.
The teapot itself has two small spots on the spout where the crazing has caused the glaze to chip off.
The original box included with the set is in great shape, with some light wear and an area on one end where the top paper layer has been torn away. There's no doubt that the previous owner has taken serious care with storing this set over the years. The box shows Japanese characters only (no English). It is suspected this set was originally purchased as a souvenir.
The teapot measures 2" deep, 4.5" in diameter at the widest. The handle part itself measures 3.5" long.
The bowl measures 2.5" deep, 5.75" in diameter across the top rim.
Each cup measures 1.5" deep, 2.75" in diameter across the top rim.
