It's a basket!
It's a table!
It began with creating a table from four salvaged staircase spindles. I then hand coiled a large wooden bottomed basket to fit upside down over the top. I have not attached the top to the base. This allows the versatility of displaying a flat top, OR a basket top. Flip it one way as a flat top table, or turn it over to provide more of catch-all storage top in the form of a basket! I have photographed the "basket side" top with a few magazines so you can more easily gauge the size. The top is completely removeable from the base.
I have been naming these tables after by-ways, roads and trails. I don't know why.
This table would make a great nightstand, plant stand or end table. It would also be great for storing craft supplies. You can keep them in the basket side and then just bring them(leaving the table behind) to your workspace as needed.
The table top measures 17.5 inches long by 11 inches wide.
It stands 22.5 inches high with the flat top, and 27 inches when it is in basket mode. It is a recycled treasure so the
wood is not perfect. The original stair spindles have been repainted in a flat matte white.
The top and legs are wood, while the sides are hand coiled fabric. The fabric colors include a white, gray and a mixture of soft, light blues. There is also a bit of pale blush pink and some light green.
SPECIAL NOTES: Because this table's parts are serendipity finds , it is truly one of a kind and I am not able to take any special orders for anymore exactly like this. However, I never know what I might find to use....
I use the coiling method of basketry to create my products.
Strips of fabric are wrapped around an inner cording as the shape is formed. The inner cording makes them sturdy. Each one is entirely handmade with no machine stitching.
Each one is unique.
