ABOUT THE SCULPTURE
TITLE Three Marks of Existence
This is an original one off sculpture,diorama,miniature connected to my interest in containers, spaces and found objects.
I love to arrange collections of things and sometimes my boxes take years to complete until I find the right object or surface material.
This piece has an oriental feel to it.
THE BOX is made of wood and painted with oil paint, distressed style in reds, purples and tawny green grey.
THE FRONT of the door is covered with handmade Chinese joss paper and signature including a pearl type bead and cotton thread to close the hinged door
THE INTERIOR of the door and box is covered with brilliant red and gold leaf paper I hand painted myself. I wanted to give it a Chinese or Japanese lacquer look.
TOP compartment of box contains rice paper tied with string attached is a gold coloured pin with Queen written on it and English coat of arms. A box from Tinchi Ginseng tea more rice paper with string and gold lettering.FOREGROUND plastic bird sitting on a slice of shiny gemstone with a bunch of tiny pointy shells sealed with Shellac sitting on gold cellophane from a chocolate factory
BOTTOM compartment contains wooden block stamp made of cherry wood with carved eagle on front, a little gold teapot a wooden Indian container alter, filled with vintage glass buttons 5 pieces of Original Tara Healing incense with black gold button and the lid to the wooden box from India.
