Let me turn your favorite photo into a metallic work of art.
I start with a photograph which you can provide either via email or post mail. Photos can be either color or black-and-white. The photograph is converted and edited to create a mask for a brass or copper plaque. The image is etched into the metal through an electrolytic process. Next the plaque is pigmented, polished, and sealed, creating a beautiful, sturdy piece which can be framed or displayed as is. As you can see from the examples, the technique creates an “antiqued” effect. These are great as wedding gifts, Christmas gifts for grandparents, keepsakes for new parents, or special mementos of graduation or an anniversary.
Names, dates, or other personal messages are easy to add to any image.
The price listed is for one plaque no larger than 4" X 6", etched on either copper or brass.
Custom sizes and shapes are possible (company logos or business cards), just contact me to discuss options and pricing.
Each etch is a unique work of art. Multiple plaques can be etched with the same picture, but due to the electrolytic process, no two will be identical. Images with extremely busy backgrounds or large dark areas may required minor editing.
Please contact me for before purchasing this listing. I would like to receive your picture and provide a proof of the mask prior to etching the metal. If you like the proof, I will accept a payment and begin the etching process.
Please allow one week from your order for me to complete and ship the plaque. If you provide a paper photograph via post, it will be returned with the plaque.
*Please note, when viewing the examples of the custom items in my store, I have used my scanner to “photograph” the finished plaques. I then shrink the images to give you the original, proof, and final result. Notice how the quality of the photograph diminishes when looking at the larger image? This does not do the plaques justice! They are much cleaner and attractive when displayed! I have not figured out how to capture their unique beauty with a camera yet, but when I do I will update the pictures here.
