Its versatility comes from the way I've assembled it. I wanted the button to be the focal piece, so I decided to treat it like a bolo. I made two peyote tubes and attached them to the back of the button (first sewing through the shank on the button, and then using jewelers' adhesive to attach them securely to the clay). The tubes are just large enough to allow you to gently pull the ndebele rope through them, so you can wear the heart close to your throat, at the end near the fringes, or somewhere in the middle, depending on your preference and your outfit (the heart cannot be removed from the rope).
The ndebele rope (also known as tubular herringbone) is woven from hundreds of Japanese delica beads in varying shades of red and pink; and there are little branches of fringe on the ends for some extra pizazz.
