One Of A Kind.
A 'double take' hat-puppet,it was my entry in the 2008 Alice Springs Beanie Festival's International Competition.
Recently I have 're-worked' Alice, and have entered her in a local Art Awards, to highlight the sad plight of Australia's nearly 'Endangered' Koala populations.
I have raised the price here on Etsy, to make her virtually N.F.S. at least until the Exhibition is over. If she is still available for sale after that I will review the price again. but I would like people to be able to view her in here.
If anyone did happen to click 'Buy' ..... Be Warned it will take me a couple of months to make a new one, which will be different, as no two pieces of mine are ever the same.
'Alice' won a close second in the People's Choice Award, narrowly missing first by 4 votes.
It is an extremely warm hat being crocheted in a very tight stitch with three yarns combined. The lower edge can be rolled up or down at the back. When rolled down it snuggly covers the ears.
Alice has her own hat also, which is crocheted out of a recycled rain poncho, this attaches on over her ears, and can be taken off, or put back on.
(Currently she has upgraded to a Leaf Fascinator Hat instead, and a Leaf Cape/Collar. And she has a second leaf she is about to eat, that says "Fair Go !" In her claws, she holds a mini felted 'Earth', that features a Koala Habitat of trees.) I must add a new photo when I fully finish her new life.
With your hand in the head area, you can manipulate her mouth to 'eat' the leaf.
Thank you to whoever posted her pic on Regretsy and fellow DUST team member Hannah for spotting it ..... which reminded me I must take her out of shop or raise the price making her not for sale online..... at least for the next few months.
