The Avatamsaka Sutra inspires me in a certain way... I have had visions for years of how to incorporate this in my art...
Since the meaning of its name is The Flower Ornament Sutra, and I love plants and nature, it is natural for me to think of these plants as holding the Essence of the Sutra...
It is said that there are sutras hidden everywhere... so in the wind, the trees, mountains... so in people...
...Not meant to be understood by intellect, but felt, lived and experienced... I sometimes think upon it as rain, pouring down on me and all... blessings...
Together with this sculpture will come a little piece from the Avatamsaka Sutra, if you wish. If you wouldn’t want me to send that along, please just let me know upon ordering. The snippet will be unique and specially chosen for each customer.
Above all I regard my work as meditation, something that directs my mind towards this present moment in all its vastness... towards oneness... and compassion.... and I love everything about doing this work...
Also Jizo is present in this work, as he is everywhere, and these prayers are for the qualities of Jizo... to see them in ourselves and others... compassionate benevolence... working for the good of all...
This is for turning to Jizo, turning to Universe, trust and compassion...
