The reason for the change is that even though my wholesaler seller assured me that it was an unheated Sapphire I find that I am unable to verify this fact.
Using a recently purchase high powered microscope I find no evidence to refute his claim, but what I do find is the lack of evidence to prove that it is unheated. The main reason for the confusion is that this is a very very clean gemstone with no inclusions. Typically we look for glassy discord fractures surrounding inclusion, or that very very small zircon crystal that are often found within sapphires appear to have an altered state and that they have a rounded look. There are other signs, but what we look for is evidence of unnatural changes to the structure of the gemstone caused by the high heat.
Either way the stone is beautiful and I stands on its own merit and I would prefer to disclose everything than risk my reputation with a false claim.
