I used a slightly two dimentional eye, framed by spiral weave. My "eye" measures approx. 15 by 15 inches.
The last sheaf of wheat was traditionaly woven into a token, or dolly to provide a home for the spirit of the grain, the fertility of the field. It was kept safe through the winter, and released back to the field at planting time.
Modern straw artists use the ancient techiques to make blessings for home, family and special occasions. Celebrate the season, and bless your home with abundance! Or give this weaving as the perfect house warming gift.
Wheat weaving appear fragile, but last very well. I have the first ones I made almost 30 years ago. They can be dusted with a feather, or for more figorous cleaning, can be swished in light suds, rinsed and dried in it's original shape.
