...mounted on a 6x6 wood panel and covered with a layer or so of encaustic medium, a combination of beeswax and hardner. The result is a vintage-appearing, durable work of art. The panel will stand alone or propped against a wall on a shelf or maybe hung by the hanger on the back.
The surface of the wax is mildly irregular, an interesting and charming feature of this work. The surface is buffed to a glossy finish. The panel measures just under 6 in. by 6 in. by 1.5 in. The work is signed and dated on the back as shown. There is a curing period of a few months after an encaustic work is completed. During this time a slight haze will form on the surface periodically and must be polished away with a smooth cloth.
All materials used are durable and should last many lifetimes...if not exposed to intense heat.
