The pieces are sanded and hand burnished with oil and river rock and the finish is smooth with an eggshell like sheen. The inside was not burnished and has a matte finish. These pieces have very stone-like look and if your home includes granite and natural stone these pieces will compliment it beautifully.
This vase measures 7" high X 5" wide.
As with all raku, the pieces are porous, not watertight and not to be used for food. Their main function is beauty!
This is a very dynamic process and I never know exactly what the fire will produce. No two pieces are alike. Because of the intense thermal process, there may be hairline cracks and other imperfections.
