Poetry for Each of the Images:
- Changing Woman -
Born of darkness to the dawn
found on a bed of flowers with a light mist falling,
Changing Woman was found
then carried down the mountain.
The people fed her pollen and dew from the loveliest flowers.
In four days she had fully grown
then the Red rain fell from inside of her,
The people gathered around her and sang for her:
“Beauty before you
Beauty behind you
Beauty above you
Beauty below you
Walk now with beauty around you
and your way will be beautiful”
While they sang she changed into old beautiful woman then to young,
to old back to young…
four times she changed.
On a warm day while bathing by the water
the Sun came to her,
she rose and embraced her luminous lover
and there she conceived the Twins
soon to be the saviors of the people.
- Corn Mother -
The Sky Father harvested his corn.
Choosing the most beautiful one.
He began to pray until Corn Mother came forth.
He asked her to bring back the people and creatures.
They were hidden below in a cave while he had cleansed the earth.
Corn Mother descended from the sky and went down to where they gathered.
She emerged leading the people and creatures to the light.
She took her people to the West where she gave them seeds to plant the corn that would feed them.
She then reminded them to honor the earth and make blessings to the four directions.

My body of the earth
nourishes her
I am in her dream
I am in her dancing leaves
I am in her singing wood
I am in the strong limbs
that give refuge to
beautiful birds
- Wolf Creek Woman -
Her dark eyes observe my own
Across the dark swift creek
I see no clouds draped on the stars
But night-black drapes her arms
And though I see no fire burn
Her eyes my body warms
And when the sun decides to rise
Then I will rise with him
Though wolf creek woman left me here
Her power will not dim
