There is a fold-down border collar to frame your face. The front is open. I left it that way so you can either wear it as a shawl, or you can attach the ends together with a vintage brooch - that would truly make it YOURS. Please view the photo (the fourth picture) showing the back - the capelet fits at the nape of your neck, but it leaves your back fairly exposed. If your gown has a pretty dip in back, this will still be visible when wearing.
I am also including with this pretty capelet a coordinating rhinestone flower brooch. Use it to adorn the capelet, or to cinch it closed - or remove it and wear it with another garment.
From end to end, the capelet measures 36", and from top to bottom at the widest part, it measures 13 1/2".
I recommend you hand wash this piece in cold, wrap in a soft fluffy towel to absorb most of the moisture, and lay flat to dry.
I believe that everyone should be able to accessorize and wear gorgeous items every day, and that those items should be affordable. I love bright colors, but also draw my inspiration from the beauty of nature. All of my handmade freeform crochet scarves, hats, and accessories are my original designs, no pattern used - therefore, most often, they won't/can't be duplicated. Each one is lovingly and carefully created with quality yarns and attention to detail- I consider them fiber art.
