Portuguese Sterling Silver 833 Standard Three Piece Tea Set Teapot, Sugar, & Creamer, with Oporto Assay Office Mark Vintage. This three-piece tea set is .833 silver, the "Sterling Silver" standard of Portugal, and is so marked. It also bears the mark of the Oporto Assay Office. The brown that appears in the picture of the markings is reflection from a nearby object, not the color of the silver. All three pieces are decorated around their upper rims and around the rims of their feet in a timeless, classic style. The tea set weighs approximately 45.6 troy ounces. The teapot is approximately six and three-quarters inches tall and is approximately eight and one-half inches from tip of spout to back of handle. There are three small, light dents on one side of the teapot, but with all the reflections on the silver, unless the light catches them just right (or wrong) they are not readily observed. The lid of the sugar is not hinged. The sugar stands approximately four and one-quarter inches tall without the lid, five and one-half inches tall with the lid. There is a small dent/mark just above the decoration at the foot of the sugar. The creamer stands approximately five and three-quarters inches tall and is undamaged. Silver is a very soft metal and minor dents are difficult, if not impossible, to avoid over a lifetime of use. The minor dings should not detract from the beauty or usefulness of this classically beautiful set.
