This is a great pattern to make for a baby or toddler when you're not exactly sure of the head size because it is adjustable! This hat is made with an eyelet row and two flaps that fold over one another and ties that weave through the eyelet and tie together. The circumference can adjust through several inches for a growing baby or child. The pattern provides instructions for sizes preemie through suggested youth and adult sizes. It would be easy to obtain additional sizes by multiplying the gauge times the desired circumference.
The basic pattern is the hat with ties (the aqua\/gold and fuscia\/tangerine versions in the last two photos). The pattern also includes suggestions for variations like the striped button flap version pictured, plus several others.
The skill level is BEGINNER. Skills required are slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet, increasing and crocheting along a side edge.
