Nile Queen is a beaded collar statement necklace. Most recently featured in Bead and Button magazine (October 2009), it is my most technically challenging piece to date and also the most inspired. It was a joy to put together as all of the components came together so well. A true moment of serendipity! Nile Queen is a collar-style neckpiece featuring a beautiful jasper cabochon, a carved bone lizard which I picked up in Costa Rica, shell sticks, an Unakite nugget and peridot stone chips and seed beads. The center medallion measures 2 1/2" x 3" and is a full 7" long with the fringe. The necklace is 18" long.

Techniques used include petoye stitch, Cellini spiral, herringbone stitch, right angle weave, fringe and improvised techniques.

Nile Queen was chosen for The Artist In You, a juried art exhibit at the Quad City Arts Gallery in Rock Island, IL and won for "Best Three Dimensional Art"
