I've created a fabric base sewn with a multitude of fabrics, papers and textures. Mother of pearl buttons, beads and ribbons are all handsewn. "Love" is spelled out using old typewriter keys while "Notes" has been handstamped onto twill ribbon and handstitched onto the fabric. The collage is supported by a piece of driftwood I found in Maine. My favorite embellishments are the rusty key and antique door lock pin. Elegant classic trim at the base of the collage completes the time honored appeal.
As in all my pieces, the back is finished with a mini design and a wire for hanging. The piece measures 7"x 9".
All the textiles on my art are machine sewn while the details are handstitched. Many of the metals are attached using wire. My signature style is a blend of layers and details designed to create both visual and tactile interest.
