This was probably worn by Air India's pilots and/or cabin crew, and I'm eternally grateful to Etsy member kjrobot for letting me know about this.
The Maharajah debuted in 1946, and was created by Bobby Kooka - Air India's Commercial Director - in collaboration with the artist Umesh Rao, of J. Walter Thompson in Mumbai.
CONDITION: This tie clip is in very good to excellent condition, and the clip spring is very firm. The irregularities you see on his left arm are the rough edges of the enamel catching the light and are not damage.
DIMENSIONS: approximately 1 3/8 inches (3.5 cm) in length.
• I'm happy to offer discounts for multiple purchases.
• I also love to combine shipping and save you money! Convo me because I can't quote flat rates since all my items are different shapes, sizes and weights (and some require boxes).
• All shipping is sent recorded/signed for (apologies, this adds significantly to the cost for buyers outside the UK) and is charged at cost plus £0.50 towards packing materials, rounded up to the nearest 10 cents at current conversion rates.
