Some of the things I love most about the back rooms of natural history museums are the odds and ends you find in hidden corners. Like this fantastic old distilled water bottle. Was it donated as part of a collection? Was it used by museum curators in early days? I'm not sure if I'll ever know. It seems so ancient and wise compared to what is used today.

The ram horns were another find, tucked away on a shelf. The beautiful, brown curves demanded to be a part of this still life.
