"PRISON ART" pieces such as this were made by prison inmates between the 1940's and 70's and were often made from cigarette packages.

Authentic "prison art" pieces are original "one-of-kind" works of art, individually thought out by each artist with much attention given to
color, graphics, the folding of the wrapper and the size of the strips needed to create a particular pattern/design.
The surface has a wonderful sheen...a result of leaving the cellophane on the paper.
Durable and fully functional, the frame is reinforced with string/cord invisibly woven through the weave of paper to give added strength and support to the structure.

This Turquoise Frame appears to be Circa 1950's-60's.

It measures 9 X 8 X 6
It's in near Mint Condition showing no signs of wear at all. There is one pin head size burn mark on one of the papers, but I believe it was there originally.
The other mention is an ink mark made on the back side from the Antique shop it was purchsed at.
We covered over it with a turquoise sharpee and it looks great.

Wonderful piece of Folk Art from days gone by.
Would also make a lovely earring display for your hand made earrings.
