It is 8 inches tall and 4 1/2 inches across at the top opening. It uses a snap-in socket and 4w or 7w light bulb (included).
This piece was thrown as a cylinder on the potter's wheel. Once the clay was dry enough to handle, the bottom was cut off, the cylinder was pushed into an oval shape and the bottom was stretched to fit the new shape and reattached. A foot was added later. I then carved a large leaf on side and smaller leaves as well.
I've been making carved candle holders since I first started working in clay about 20 years ago. The snap-in sockets made it a cinch to adapt the candle holders to electric lamps. I hope you enjoy it!
