The bowl of the spoon is monogrammed “Ruth”. The back of the bowl of the spoon is also monogrammed “August 6, 1892”.
Duhme & Company, which was started in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1840 by Herman Duhme. In 1896 the Duhme Jewelry Company was formed which was primarily a retail jewelry company that not only dealt in jewelry but also sterling of their own and other manufacturers. The Duhme Jewelry Company ceased operation in 1910.
The spoon is signed “Duhme and Co”. A Hallmark that was used beginning in the late 1850’s through the early 1870’s The engraving August 6 – 1892 added later.
4 ¼ inches in length – 7/8 inch at widest part of the bowl – lightly gold washed bowl
