This piece was inspired by the bond we share with the animals that we commune with in our public spaces. The time we spend together relieves stress and fills us with a peaceful sense of tranquility. For many of us, it has become a ritual or tradition: our biweekly walk around the park is never complete until my daughter has fed the ducks. "Gift of Peace" tries to capture that sense of being totally at rest within your own skin and within the that special moment between people animals.
"Gift of Peace" is difficult to match with a companion piece in terms of both theme and colour. While she most often stands alone, she can be beautifully paired with "Dab of Inspiration" or either of "Look! Deer!" and "Dusk Lit Gathering". While she is suited for almost any room in your house, "Gift of Peace" most often finds her place in offices and sunrooms.
The original piece was done using an acrylic ink on watercolor paper. The technique is very similar to watercolor but tends to keep more vibrant hews and dries permanently to the paper; enabling me to create layered pieces that would be impossible with watercolor.
