A resident favorite here at AlleyKat's, this coat dates to the 1940's. Made by Lassie Maid for the Anderson Newcomb Co., the coat is lined and features two large buttons made of shell.
Anderson Newcomb Co. was a dry goods store that flourished in the 1940's. We can find information on Anderson Newcomb that dates all the way back to 1910. The popular slogan associated with Lassie Maid products was "I love a Lassie".
Several advertisements can be found in old Good Housekeeping, Women's Day and Life magazines.
The coat is lined in a pink acetate that has been softened by time. The lining is in need of repair and has been torn at the waist on both the left and right side. The material is quite light and this is not a coat for warmth. It is a matter of statement, style and utterly fantastic taste.
The coat has two faux eye catching pockets and taupe trim piping along the edges. A stain was found on the crease of the collar. No other damages or odors to note. Though the coat has been dry cleaned we have left the lining in it's found condition. We suggest the lining be removed and repaired in completion. Due to the age, the condition of the coat itself and the easy repair of the lining we are listing this coat in Excellent condition.
