This doll was created by me and is very detailed after many hours of work. He has a 16 gauge wire armature from his neck to his feet which helps him to stand with the assistance of a doll stand that I redesigned to aid his stance. His face was hand drawn using Prismacolor Pens and Pencils and was set with a matte acrylic spray. His hair is Tibetan lambs wool with eye brows created with the lambs wool as well. His fingers are made with wire inside to enable them to be gently posable.
I created his entire outfit from the shoes, coat, vest, and bow tie. I embellished his outfit with buttons, lace, ribbon and various trims. His top hat was covered in black lace and then embellished with hand made hat pins, buttons, tulle, and ribbons. The three ribbons on the right side of his top hat represent Breast Cancer Awareness (Pink), Women's Heart Disease Awareness (Purple) and HIV Awareness and Heart Disease Awareness (Red). The traditional tag of the Mad Hatter, "In This Style 10/6", which is the price of the hat: 10 shillings and 6 pence. There is a rayon silk hat band around the hat with tulle netting and a button on top of the hat with other embellishments.
There is a great deal of detail to this doll and if you have questions please feel free to e-mail me. I also have a "Queen of Hearts" Art Doll, also from "Alice in Wonderland". I plan to add more characters from the Alice in Wonderland story soon.
