This gorgeous vintage covered vegetable bowl is the Dundee pattern, Sylvia shape, made by Hutschenreuther Selb, Bavaria. The china bowl has an ivory background decorated with bold red roses with green leaves and thick stripes of gold trim. It is footed with two ornate handles and a pleasing gilt-topped knob on the lid. The shape by itself is lovely; the roses make it absolutely stunning.

The Dundee pattern was discontinued in 1962. I believe this to be from the early 1950s. Hutschenreuther Porcelain Factory was founded in Hohenburg, Bavaria, in 1814. The company continues to make fine porcelain dinnerware and figurines as part of Rosenthal. This piece bears the traditional green stamp of Hutschenreuther Selb.

The covered bowl is in almost perfect condition, with no chips or cracks and no discernible wear to the gold or roses.

Size: About 11 1/2 inches wide (handle to handle) by 8 inches tall (29.2 x 20.3 cm)
