I'm really not a dark person, in reality I'm a bit of a hippie- but my pottery somehow has taken a turn to the darker side! I have been making a lot of these Edgar Allen Poe-inspired pieces in many shapes and sizes. I use rubber stamps and underglaze to create the designs.
One side of the mug features the anatomical image of a heart stamped, and the opposite quotes from the short story "The Tell Tale Heart" by Poe. "It was the beating of his hideous heart!" The handle, instead of a normal strap, is a Burton-esque swirl that fits the hand perfectly,
The interior glaze is drippy blood red glaze, and the exterior is covered in a clear crackle glaze that will crackle more over time, giving a very antique, artistic effect to the piece.
Thrown porcelain, stamped and fired to cone 6 in an electric kiln
