I machine quilted the quilt with Warm and White cotton batting. The backing is a hula print in bright turquoise which matches perfectly. The quilting is a free-hand meander design done with cotton thread. I made the scrappy binding from leftover pieces from the top, stitched it to the front, then turned it to the back and hand stitched it down to finish.
I have gently washed the quilt to achieve the soft, puckered look of a favorite quilt. This can be done in the machine with cool water, and dried in the dryer on a low setting until almost dry. Like all of my quilts, this one has been made to be used and loved.
This quilt would be an awesome baby shower gift, or a gift for the new mom and baby. Or... for anyone that loves Hawaii!
