Yarn: about 4 ounce of Main Color (MC) and 1-2 oz of Contrast Color (CC)
It is a simple pattern that derives its shaping by changing needle sizes rather then increasing stitches. There is still a small amount of decrease shaping happening at the crown, but nothing a beginning novice couldn't master :)
This simple pattern is especially designed to showcase hand-spun yarn but can be knit up just as well using commercial yarn.
The hand-processed and hand-spun fibers I used in the sample listing include naturally creamy white Romney Lambswool from Sandy's Homestead Farm & beautifully soft Mohair from Namaste Farms that I spun into a lofty single and plied with a thin raw silk thread from my stash.
The yarns are knitted with bigger needles, so the body of the hat remains lightweight, weighing in at barely 2-3 ounces, and retains its slouchy shape.
Skills needed: cast on, knit, knitting in the round, ribbing, decreasing, sewing on button (optional)
Once you have purchased this listing I will email you a PFD file of the pattern within 24 hrs.
