My husband solved the problem for me. This Kate is made from Maple and is plenty heavy to stay in one spot, weighing a little over 3 pounds. The removable brass rods hold my Schacht bobbins as well as my Journeywheel bobbins and are long enough to fit even larger bobbins. The rubber feet on the bottom hold her in place without damaging any surface.
An additional bonus is that there is no need for any further tension on the bobbins. The 45 degree angle puts enough tension on the bobbins that they won't overspin and tangle my yarn.
Kate 45 comes with four brass rods and four rubber grommets to protect her from spinning bobbins. The maple is oiled only, no further stain so the wood grain is gorgeous. This wood absolutely shines!
If you're interested in a Kate 45 that matches your wheel, please Convo me and we can discuss what sort of wood you'd like and if there will be any change in price due to the cost of the wood.
